OF MARCH 13, 2023, PUBLIC MEETING BETWEEN OFFICE OF NUCLEAR REGULATION MANAGEMENT AND PRESSURIZED WATER OWNERS GROUP EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TO DISCUSS TOP FOCUS AREAS BY EACH ENTITY IN 2023 On March 13, 2023, the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) management of the U.S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held an observation public meeting with the Executive Committee of Pressurized Water Reactor Owners Group (PWROG) to discuss the top focus areas for each entity in 2023. This meeting was intended to restart periodic meetings between the two organizations, following the COVID-19 pandemic. The topics of discussion for NRR were risk priorities and visual examination of containment surfaces covered by insulation.
The topics for PWROG discussion were material degradation operating experience, on-line monitoring programs, future of technical specifications, and risk assessment process for topical reports (RAPTR). The meeting notice and agenda dated March 1, 2023, are available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) under Accession No. ML23060A206. A list of attendees is provided in Enclosure 1.
The slides presented for this public meeting by the PWROG and the NRR are available in ADAMS under Accession Nos. ML23067A084 and ML23069A038, respectively. A list of presenters is included in Enclosure 2. The details of the meeting are discussed in Enclosure 3.

MEETING DETAILS MARCH 13, 2023, PUBLIC MEETING BETWEEN NUCLEAR REACTOR REGULATION MANAGEMENT AND PRESSURIZED WATER REACTOR OWNERS GROUP EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TO DISCUSS THE TOP FOCUS AREAS BY EACH ENTITY IN 2023 Purpose The purpose of this public observation meeting on March 13, 2023, between the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) management of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and Executive Committee (EC) of Pressurized Water Reactor Owners Group (PWROG) at Marriott North Bethesda was to discuss the top focus areas for each entity in 2023.
Background
The meetings between the NRR management and the PWROG EC were normally held each calendar year during the NRC Regulatory Information Conference (RIC) time. During the last meeting in 2018, the NRR management suggested to the PWROG EC that we hold these meetings if important topics exist for that calendar year. As a result, no meeting was held in 2019 due to lack of important topics, and later due to COVID-19. This meeting on March 13, 2023, was intended to restart periodic meetings between the two organizations, following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Path Forward The NRR management and the PWROG EC will continue to hold these periodic meetings as proposed by the PWROG to discuss the top focus areas for that calendar year during the RIC timeframe.
