Dear David J. Heckman:
By letter dated November 25, 2022 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System
[ADAMS] Accession Number ML22314A042), the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff notified you of its approval of the January 7, 2022, request to amend special nuclear materials license number 960 (SNM-960) for the General Electric-Hitachi (GEH), Vallecitos Nuclear Center, in Sunol, California (ML22007A083). The purpose of your license amendment request was to address edits to the 2015 license renewal application (LRA) and its 2016 revision cited in Condition 10 of the license. In its approval letter, the NRC staff requested that, within 30 days, GEH must provide an updated copy of the LRA incorporating the approved edits. GEH submitted an updated copy of the amended SNM-960 LRA incorporating the approved edits by letter dated December 16, 2022 (ML22350A053).
The NRC staff completed its review of the December 16, 2022, submittal and determined that the requested changes have been incorporated in the LRA as approved. Therefore, pursuant to the requirements in Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR), Part 70, the SNM-960 license is hereby amended to reflect approval of your request. License conditions 11 and 13 of the SNM-960 license are being amended to include the dates of the January 7, 2022, incoming submittal, and the June 1, 2022 (ML22152A148), and December 16, 2022, supplemental letters.
All other conditions of the SNM-960 license shall remain the same. Enclosed are copies of the public and non-public versions of the SNM-960 license.
This letter concludes efforts under Enterprise Project Identification Number L-2022-LLA-0010.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records component of the NRCs ADAMS.
ADAMS is accessible from the NRCs website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room). Non-public documents will be withheld from the public.
