OF JANUARY 9, 2023, PUBLIC MEETING WITH NUCLEAR ENERGY INSTITUTE AND INDUSTRY TO DISCUSS RESPONSES ON NEI 99-01, REVISION 7, DRAFT G, DEVELOPMENT OF EMERGECNCY ACTION LEVELS FOR NON-PASSIVE REACTORS (EPID L-2021-NFG-0003)
On January 9, 2023, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held an observation public meeting with the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) and industry to discuss a revised NRC staff comment on Draft G of the proposed NEI 99-01, Revision 7, Development of Emergency Action Levels for Non-Passive Reactors, associated with the assessment of threshold value for fuel clad barrier loss. The meeting notice and agenda dated December 22, 2022 are available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) under Accession No. ML22356A007. A list of attendees is provided in the enclosure.
The NRC staff provided comments to NEI during the public meeting held on October 5, 2022 (ADAMS Accession No. ML22277A444), and NEI submitted the draft responses by email on December 21, 2022 (ADAMS Accession No. ML22356A125). After reviewing the NEI responses, the NRC staff revised Comment No. 6, and NEI provided its draft resolution to this comment (ADAMS Accession No. ML22356A124).
The above comments were discussed during this meeting. NEI stated that the official responses to all the NRC comments will be provided by the end of January 2023.
