STATUS OF RECOMMENDATIONS: AUDIT OF THE NRCS IMPLEMENTATION OF FEDERAL CLASSIFIED INFORMATION LAWS AND POLICIES (OIG-16-A-17)
REFERENCE:
DIRECTOR, OFFICE OF NUCLEAR SECURITY AND INCIDENT RESPONSE, MEMORANDUM DATED DECEMBER 13, 2022 Attached is the Office of the Inspector Generals (OIG) analysis and status of recommendations as discussed in the agencys response dated December 13, 2022.
Based on this response, recommendation 1(b) from this report is now closed.
Recommendations 1(a), 1(c), 1(d), 1(e), 1(f), 2, and 3 of this report were previously closed. Based on this response, all recommendations for this report are now closed.

Audit Report AUDIT OF THE NRCS IMPLEMENTATION OF FEDERAL CLASSIFIED INFORMATION LAWS AND POLICIES Status of Recommendations (OIG-21-A-16)
Recommendation 1(b): Complete the current inventories of classified information in safes and secure storage areas.
Agency Response Dated December 13, 2022: In 2020, the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response (NSIR) developed a strategy to leverage contractor resources to support other NRC offices in completing their classified holding inventories. As a result of this effort, the final set of safe inventories was completed in June 2022. Consistent with this recommendation, inventories have been performed for all GSA-approved security containers.
NSIR continues to collaborate with the Office of Administration on measures to remind NRC staff of classified information laws, policies, and best practices, including maintaining safe inventories and reducing unnecessary classified holdings, in order to ensure continued adherence to these obligations.
The actions associated with this recommendation have been completed.
OIG Analysis: The OIG reviewed documentation verifying that the inventories have been completed. The completed actions meet the intent of the recommendation. Therefore, this recommendation is now closed.
Status: Closed.
