SUMMARY
OF WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC COMPANY 2022 FUEL PERFORMANCE UPDATE CLOSED MEETING (EPID L-2022-NTM-0002)
On September 15, 2022, a closed annual meeting between Westinghouse Electric Company (Westinghouse) and U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission was held virtually in a form of teleconference to discuss Westinghouse fuel performance. Westinghouse presented proprietary information regarding Westinghouse fuel performance and future plans including information on the planned topical report submittals. Westinghouse provided an update on the Westinghouse accident tolerant fuel program including updates on EnCore licensing plans, ADOPT' fuel, coated cladding, high burnup/high energy program, technologies to accelerate development and licensing, and licensing schedule. In addition, Westinghouse provided an overview of the departure from nucleate boiling predictive modeling using machine learning technology and provided updates on their pressurized water reactor (PWR) fuel performance codes and methods, and the boiling water reactor fuel performance, codes, and methods including update on TRITON11 fuel. Additional presentations included an overview of the eVinci micro reactor, updates on Cobalt-60 production in Westinghouse PWRs, and a comprehensive overview and updates on Westinghouse additive manufacturing.
