Extension of Due Date for the TRISO-X Response to the Request for Supplemental Information Date: Friday, September 16, 2022 10:10:00 AM

Jennifer,

The NRC staff has reviewed your request to extend the due date for the Request for Supplemental Information (RSI) from September 22 to September 30, 2022, provided in your email dated September 9. The NRC staff understands that the extension allows additional time to discuss the draft RSI responses with the NRC technical reviewers during calls scheduled for September 27 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML22257A216) and September 28 (ADAMS Accession No. ML22257A217). Based on the date of these calls and the time needed to resolve any comments, an extension beyond September 30 may be warranted.

Therefore, the due date for the RSI responses is extended from September 22 to October 14.

Note: Extension of the RSI response due date is unlikely to impact the overall review schedule. As previously discussed, the review schedule for the TRISO-X license application is based on a 30 month timeframe, which will be calculated from the date of docketing (i.e., formal acceptance) for the complete application package, (i.e., the Environmental Report and the License Application). This is consistent with Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 2.101, Filing of application, which states that docketing will occur following the determination of acceptability for the application. The NRC staff anticipates completing the acceptance review within 60 days of submittal of the Environmental Report, scheduled for September 22, subject to resolution of any RSIs and other pressing safety-related work that may take precedence.

This email will be docketed in public ADAMS.

Thanks much.

Sincerely,

Matt Bartlett Sr. Project Manager NMSS/DFM/FFLB 301-415-7154
