Inventorymanagementsystem ThetritiumstoragestrategydiscussedinSection9.1.3ensuresthattheamountofMARaccumulatedby thissystemremainsbelowtheamountoftritiumassumedtobereleasedintheMHA.Theamountof MARinsubsystemsandcomponentsislimitedtoanupperboundlimitsuchthatthetotalamountof materialsatriskreleasedisboundedbytheamountreleasedduringtheMHA.Limitingtheamountof MARinsubsystemsandcomponentsobviatestheneedforamoredetailedsafetyanalysisforthis categoryofevents.
13.1.7 NotUsed 13.1.8 GeneralChallengestoNormalOperation Thiscategoryofeventsincludeschallengestonormaloperationnotcoveredbyanothereventcategory thatrequiresanautomaticormanualshutdownoftheplant.Disturbances,includinganinadvertent operatoraction,aredetecteddirectlyorindirectlybytheRPS,whichinitiatescontrolandshutdown elementsinsertion,fulfillingthereactivitycontrolfunction.Thehighestworthelementisassumedtobe stuckoutanddoesnotinsert.TheDHRSperformsitsfunctiontolimitreactortemperatureandfulfillthe heatremovalfunction.
Groupedeventsincludespurioustripsduetocontrolsystemanomalies,operatorerrorsandequipment failures.Thiseventgroupalsoincludesscenarioswhereoperatorschoosetomanuallyshutdownthe plant.Alsoincludedarefaults inthereactivitycontrolandshutdownsystem,electricalsystem,heatrejectionsubsystemandother plantsystemsthatwouldchallengenormaloperations.
Thisgroupalsocontainsinertgassystemdisturbances,andinstrumentationandcontrolsystemfaults.
Thiseventgroupreliesuponthereactorprotectionsystemandisboundedbythelossofforced circulationpostulatedevent.
