SUBJECT: SHEARON HARRIS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT - NRC OPERATOR

LICENSING EXAMINATION APPROVAL 05000400/2022301

Dear Mr. Haaf:

The purpose of this letter is to provide U.S. Nuclear Regulator y Commission (NRC) approval of

the proposed written examination and operating test under Title 10 of the Code of Federal

Regulations (10 CFR) 55.40(b)(4) and to confirm the final arrangements for the upcoming

operator licensing examination at Shearon Harris Nuclear Plan.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has approved the s ubject examinations,

and you may administer the written examination in accordance wi th Revision 12 to NUREG-

1021, Operator Licensing Examination Standards for Power React ors, during the week of

September 26, 2022. The NRC sta ff will administer the operatin g tests during the week of

September 19, 2022. The list of the applicants approved to tak e the examination has been

provided to your office.

The examinations have undergone ext ensive review by my staff an d representatives

responsible for licensed operator training at your facility. B ased on this review, I have

concluded that the examinations meet the guidelines of NUREG-10 21 for content, operational,

and discrimination validity. By administering the written exam ination, you also agree that it

meets NUREG-1021 guidelines and is appropriate for measuring th e qualifications of licensed

operator applicants at your facility. If you determine that th ese examinations are not appropriate

for licensing operators at your facility, do not administer the examination and contact me at

(404) 997-4703.

Please contact your Chief Exam iner, Mr. Jason Bundy, at (404) 9 97-4557, if you have any

questions or identify any errors or changes in license level (r eactor operator or senior reactor
