SUMMARY
OF THE JUNE 13, 2022, PUBLIC MEETING BETWEEN THE US NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND THE NUCLEAR ENERGY INSTITUTE TO DISCUSS COMMENTS ON DRAFT GUIDANCE NEI 99-01, DEVELOPMENT OF EMERGENCY ACTION LEVELS FOR NON-PASSIVE REACTORS On June 13, 2022, the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a public meeting with representatives from the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) to discuss NRCs latest comments on NEIs draft guidance entitled, NEI 99-01, Development of Emergency Action Levels for Non-Passive Reactors. The public meeting was held virtually, and the meeting notice including the agenda topics discussed is publicly available in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS). A list of the meeting participants is enclosed.
The meeting focused on NRC staffs comments to NEIs latest draft guidance document including: (1) additional information needed to support proposed changes, (2) the deletion of certain emergency action level thresholds, and (3) revisions from prior drafts of the document, which were provided during public meetings on April 13, 15, 20 and 22; September 22; and October 20, 2021.
