- Barry,
The email train below was provided while I was on leave. As Mike indicates below, the NRC staff will need an updated Risk Assessment in response to the Request for Additional Information letter we issued May 20, 2022 (ML22123A091). That being said, we will need LES to provide an official response to the RAI letter. The RAI and responses are official agency documents that are tracked by the NRC and get reported to Congress quarterly. In addition, the issuance of the RAIs is public information and we need to ensure the response is also tracked in the public record (e.g., the cover letter is made public).
Note that the RAI letter issued May 20, 2022, required a response by June 19, 2022. This was subsequently revised to July 22, 2022. Based on your email below, my understanding is that you intend to submit an updated Risk Assessment to resolve the RAIs. The technical reviewer has indicated via the email below that this approach may address the RAIs. Therefore, please ensure that the cover letter submitting the updated Risk Assessment includes a couple of sentences describing how the RAIs are resolved by the submittal. This will enable the NRC straff to close out the RAIs both on the public record and for tracking purposes. Please let me know if you would like to discuss this issue further.
This email train will be placed in public ADAMS to provide a record of our path forward.
Sincerely,
Matt Bartlett Sr. Project Manager NMSS/DFM/FFLB 301-415-7154

RE: UUSA Risk Assessment
- Barry,
The NRC finds this acceptable. If a more formal reply is required, I will coordinate with Matt Bartlett to do so.
Thank you, Mike

[External_Sender] UUSA Risk Assessment
Gentlemen,
In response to ML22123A091, RAIs for LES Risk Assessment dated May 20, 2022, UUSA is offering to submit a revised Risk Assessment with an assessment levels of Moderate-Low-Low in lieu of RAI responses. Please let us know if this would ease concerns with the information security of the site. UUSA is prepared to move forward utilizing these levels in the implementation of 32 CFR 117.
Thank you,
