signed NRC Form 898 Topical Report Completeness Determination for X-energy Principal Design Criteria.pdf Mr. Chapman, Attached is the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff completeness determination for X-energys Xe-100 Principal Design Criteria Licensing Topical Report (XE00-Z-ZZ-ZZ-004799). Based on a preliminary review of the report, the NRC staff determined that it provides sufficient information for beginning a detailed technical review.
As discussed on the August 10, 2022, call with Ingrid Nordby, the NRC staff plans to issue the Draft Safety Evaluation by April 28, 2023, and the Final Safety Evaluation by September 8, 2023. If necessary, the NRC staff will issue requests for additional information (RAIs) by December 5, 2022.
The NRC staff estimates a level of effort of 600 hours0.00694 days <br />0.167 hours <br />9.920635e-4 weeks <br />2.283e-4 months <br /> will be needed to complete the technical review, present to the Advisory Committee for Reactors Safeguards (ACRS) and issue the Final Safety Evaluation. The schedule and level of effort could change due to several factors such as the need for additional rounds of RAIs, unanticipated changes to the scope of the review, vendor delays, unsolicited supplements to the topical report, unexpected ACRS involvement, etc. The NRC staff will communicate any changes to the review schedule or estimated NRC staff hours including the reason(s) for the changes.
