OUTLINE SUBMITTAL COMMENTS Facility: Braidwood 2022 ILE Exam Date: March 2022 Written Exam Outline (NRC Developed)

Comment Resolution 1

General Comment - Chief Examiner will replace K/As as necessary during written exam development.

Include replaced K/As on ES-401-4.

Completed.

Administrative JPM Outline (NRC Developed/Facility Supported)

Comment Resolution 1

For (RO): Is performing an EONS transmittal a responsibility of an RO at Braidwood?

Yes, part of EP communicator tasking.

2 (For SRO): From NUREG 1021, ES-301, For the Emergency Plan topic, only those K/As related to the emergency plan and implementing procedures (not those associated with the emergency operating procedures (EOPs)) are applicable to this part of the operating test. Testing on whether something is reportable, especially a non-emergency event does not meet the text above. May have to re-evaluate whether this JPM is acceptable.

Replace with S-409.

3 For RO: Conduct of Ops JPM R-104 should be considered repeated from the 2 previous exams as it was administered during the 2018 ILE and there were no RO Admin JPMs administer during the 2019 ILE.

Acceptable as there are no other RO Admin JPMs from the previous 2 exams which included RO Admin JPMs (2018 and 2020 ILEs).

Changed coding to add P on outline.

Simulator Scenario Outline Comments (NRC Developed/Facility Supported)

Comment Resolution 1

Scenario 2, Event 6 includes verbiage about a Technical Specification which may be entered. TS 3.7.11 Condition A does not appear correct to enter based on the components which make up the main control room temperature control system as indicated by the Technical Specification bases. Only include Technical Specifications which are required to be entered on the D-1 and D-2s for the purposes of accurate grading.

Removed TS 3.7.11 from guide.

2 In Scenario 2, Event 7 what is the purpose of having the Feedwater Isolation occur on the reactor trip alone and not concurrent low Tave. In this event, the turbine does not automatically trip requiring operator action.

Tave will be lowering while the turbine remains on-line and it seems more than likely that Tave will have achieved the value requiring FWI before operator action would take place. What has validation shown on this?

This malfunction will limit the amount of feedwater injected into the SGs during the failure of the turbine auto trip. The result will be a lower SG level than if the feedwater isolation occurred at its normal setpoint. This will cause less time between the initiation of the final event (feedline break in containment) and reaching bleed and feed criteria.

Added wording to summary explaining the why the feedwater isolation occurs.

3 In Scenario 3, Event 5 why is Technical Specification 3.8.1 Condition A not entered for a loss of a source of offsite power when the SAT feed breakers are opened due to degraded voltage?

Replace scenario event. Have bus 142 fault with 1A DG failure to cause entry to 1BwCA-0.0.

Replaced with LOOP on Unit 1 only.

4 In Scenario 3, CT-1, provide more detail as to where the 10 minute time limit comes from for restoring an ESF bus via the cross ties from Unit 2.

UFSAR 8.3.1.1.2.2, page 8.3-10, requires crosstie within 10 minutes.

5 Last low power scenario (per NUREG 1021 definition) was scenario 3 from the 2019 ILE.

Revise one scenario in the set to begin at low power.

Revised scenario 4 to begin at low power. Moved events from other scenarios to accommodate the change in power level.
