SUMMARY

- 2021 ANNUAL ASSESSMENT MEETING REGARDING BRUNSWICK STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT, DOCKET NOS. 50-325 AND 50-324; AND SHEARON HARRIS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, DOCKET NO. 50-400, MEETING NUMBER 20220350

On April 27, 2022, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) cond ucted a live virtual meeting concerning the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant and Shearon Harri s Nuclear Power Plant. The purpose of the meeting was to provide opportunities for the pub lic to discuss the annual assessment for the period of January 1, 2021, through December 31, 2021.

The public meeting was held remotely through the Microsoft Team s application. Additionally, a call-only telephone bridge line was available. The following d ocuments related to the meeting are available in ADAMS: Meeting Notice (ML22094A062), Assessme nt Meeting Presentation (ML22091A133).

The meeting was conducted from 1 :00 PM to 2:00 PM local time. Known attendees consisted of representatives from the NRC, Duke Energy, and general membe rs of the public. Due to the nature of the meeting, no official list of attendees is include d. NRC staff were available for questions several times throughout the presentation and again a t the conclusion of the presentation. There was minimal interaction with the public wh ich was consistent with the typical annual assessment meetings conducted near the station. One member of the public was interested in Duke Energys emergency evacuation routes assessm ent, specifically if the assessment has taken into account the rapid population growth o f the community surrounding Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant. The NRC staff (Senior Resi dent Inspector) contacted the individual after the meeting to discuss details regarding evacu ation time estimates and the status of the latest study.
