As someone who has followed the research on nuclear energy for many years, I am outraged that the NRC cold think of approving the continuation of such a dangerous and aging nuclear plant as Point Beach in Wisconsin. The people on the NRC commission know how risky it I but they apparently consider the enrichment of their corporate colleagues to be more important that the health and lives of the public. Even one major catastrophe could kill millions of people and spread serious radiation exposure to millions more. The radiation from spend fuels will have to be guarded for many years and at property probably cannot be reclaimed for safe future use.
I call for an investigation into how the NRC operates and replacements of commissioners who see only dollar signs when they vote.
