Notification of Removal of Participation in Security Advisory 07-01

2. Letter, Entergy to US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Certifications of Permanent Cessation of Power Operations and Permanent Removal of Fuel from the Reactor Vessel, dated June 10, 2019, (ML19161A033)
3. Letter, Holtec Decommissioning International, LLC (HDI) to US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Registration of Casks to Store Spent Fuel and Notification of Permanent Removal of All Spent Fuel Assemblies from the Spent Fuel Pool, dated December 14, 2021 (ML21348A748)

This letter is to inform the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (USNRC) that, as of January 6, 2022, Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station (PNPS) is formally removing the site from voluntary participation in the guidelines put forth in Reference 1. The additional actions necessary to determine notification validity did impact functions that were necessary in an operating plant scenario. However, with the plant in a permanently defueled state and all fuel stored on the Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) pad, time critical actions no longer exist at the site for such an event and, as such, participation in this voluntary program is no longer necessary. PNPS previously documented that all fuel has been permanently removed from the Reactor Vessel in Reference 2 and relocation of all spent fuel to the ISFSI storage facility in Reference 3.

This letter contains no new regulatory commitments.
