SUMMARY
OF DECEMBER 9, 2021, PUBLIC MEETING WITH ARIZONA PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANY TO DISCUSS UPCOMING LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST TO ADOPT TSTF-567, ADD CONTAINMENT SUMP TS TO ADDRESS GSI-191 ISSUES, FOR PALO VERDE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNITS 1, 2, AND 3 (EPID L-2021-LRM-0117)
On December 9, 2021, an Observation public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and Arizona Public Service Company (the licensee) via teleconference. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the licensees upcoming license amendment request to revise the technical specifications (TSs) by adopting Technical Specifications Task Force (TSTF) Traveler TSTF-567, Add Containment Sump TS to Address GSI [Generic Safety Issue] -191 [Assessment of Debris Accumulation on Pressurized-Water Reactor Sump Performance] Issues, at Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1, 2, and 3. The meeting notice and agenda, dated November 29, 2021, are available in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at Accession No. ML21333A231. A list of attendees is provided in the enclosure.
The licensee provided slides for this public meeting, which are available in ADAMS at Accession No. ML21342A050. The licensees presentation included the proposed revisions to the TSs. In addition, the licensee stated that it is planning to submit this application in early January 2022 and will request NRC approval by 1 year.
No members of the public called into the meeting. No regulatory decisions or commitments were made at the meeting. No Public Meeting Feedback forms were received.
