Friday, September 03, 2021 7:18:41 PM On November 8, 2019, NRCs Eric Simpson told a Webinar held to discuss the August 3, 2018, misalignment event at San Onfore that before starting downloads of lowered canisters, San Onofre trained staff used test equipment smaller than the actual canisters used at San Onofre.

The training canister provided about three quarter of an inch more clearance, this made the lining and lowering the training canister much easier than would be experienced during actual downloading operations.

10 CFR § 72.192 provides in pertinent part that an applicant for a license under this part shall establish a program for training which program must be submitted to the Commission for approval with the license application.

Under FOIA please provide to me the program for training for the practice cannisters the San Onofre plant operator submitted to the NRC under 72.192 or related provisions of law. Please include any pictures and specification of the practice cannisters. Please include any writing that explains if the NRC discovered the practice cannisters were smaller than the actual cannisters to be used for downloading of the nuclear waste. We seek this information in order to inform the public on these issues. Please include mseverson@amslawyers.com in your response. Thank You, Mike Aguirre
