LOUISIANA ENERGY SERVICES - REQUEST TO USE WIRELESS RADIO REMOTE CONTROL SYSTEMS IN A CLASSIFIED AREA FOR ITS MULTI-FUNCTION DECONTAMINATION TRAIN OVERHEAD CRANES (ENTERPRISE PROJECT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER L-2021-LLL-0011)

Dear Mr. Padgett:

We have reviewed the Louisiana Energy Services Inc. (LES) request submitted May 17, 2021, (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System {ADAMS} Accession No. ML21144A272). It requests the NRC's review and concurrence for UUSA to use wireless radio remote control systems in a classified area for the Multi-Function Decontamination Train Overhead Cranes. Our review has identified that additional information is needed on several of the specifications for the wireless crane before the final action can be taken.

Please provide a response to the request for additional information provided in Enclosure 1 within 30 days from the date of this letter.

Pending your response, we anticipate completing our review by October 29, 2021. We recognize that this date exceeds your initial requested need date of October 1, 2021. The NRC staff will work to complete the review as close to October 1 as feasible. The completion date could change depending on the findings of our technical review, urgent assignments, or other factors. We will promptly communicate any significant changes to this schedule.

In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 2.390 of the U.S.

Nuclear Regulatory Agencys (NRCs) Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from ADAMS.

ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.

This document transmits an enclosure containing sensitive, unclassified information.
