SUBJECT:
Acceptance Review and Additional Information Needs for TRISO X Application for Approval of Safeguard Information Plan
Dear Ms. Wheeler:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has received your submittal dated July28, 2021 requesting approval of a safeguards information plan for the TRISO X Fuel Fabrication Facility.
We have completed our acceptance review of your submittal and have identified no administrative omissions or deficiencies that would prevent us from proceeding with a detailed review. Your submittal has been assigned Enterprise Project Identifier (EPID) L-2021-LLA-0147. Please reference this EPID number and Docket Number 70-7027 in any future correspondence associated with this request.
During the technical review of your submittal, the staff identified the following:
The commitments described in the submitted plan needs to be modified to be written in present tense instead of future tense. For example, commitments in the plan using phrases such as will describe, will provide and intends to establish should be modified to indicate that the plan commits to requirements currently.
Based on our evaluation and projection of current review schedules, we anticipate completing our formal review by September 15, 2021 (assuming a revised plan is submitted by August 31, 2021 and the scheduling of staffs operational readiness review on-site).
This date could change depending on the findings of our technical review, urgent assignments, or other factors. We will promptly communicate any significant changes to this schedule. In addition, the NRC staff estimates that completing the review of your submittal will require up to 60 staff hours, which corresponds to about $17,280
($288.00/hour).
In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 2.390 of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this email will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room, or from the Publicly Available Records component of the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room). If you have any questions regarding this communication, please contact me at 301-415-8740 or by email at David.Tiktinsky@nrc.gov.
Sincerely,
David Tiktinsky, Senior Project Manager Fuel Facility Licensing Branch
