Specifications for NorthAnnaPower Station(NAPS) Units 1and 2.Specifically, the amendment proposed revisesNAPSTS3.8.4, "ElectricalPower Systems, DCSources -

j Operating,"

Surveillance Requirements (SRs) 3.8.4.2 and 3.8.4.5by adding new l acceptancecriteria foreachsafety-related battery that specify a total connection j resistance value asestablished byNorth Annacalculations.

Theinter-cell connection resistance value of1.5E-4 Ohmcurrently specified inTS 3.8.4 isnon-conservativeifall,ora considerable number, oftheconnections are postulated to beattheTS limitvalue, sincetheacceptable totalbattery connection resistancevalue wouldbeexceeded. Thenewacceptance criteriawillconfirm that thetotal battery resistance connection iswithinpre-established limitsandensures that thebatteries will perform theirspecified safetyfunction bymaintaining required battery terminalvoltage  !
