VOGTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT, UNITS 3 AND 4 ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENTS AND EXEMPTIONS REGARDING CLARIFICATION OF ITAAC REGARDING INVESSEL COMPONENTS (LAR-21-001) (EPID L-2021-LLA-0153)
Dear Mr. Whitley:
In response to your application dated August 24, 2021, titled, Clarification of ITAAC Regarding Invessel Components, designated as License Amendment Request (LAR)21-001, the U.S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission has granted the enclosed exemptions and issued the enclosed Amendment Nos. 188 and 186 to Combined License (COL) Nos. NPF-91 and NPF-92 for the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (VEGP), Units 3 and 4, respectively.
The amendments involve changes to VEGP, Units 3 and 4, plant-specific Tier 1 information (PS-DCD), with corresponding changes to the associated COL Appendix C information.
Specifically, the amendments involve changes that facilitate the closure of certain Inspections, Tests, Analyses, and Acceptance Criteria (ITAAC) required to be closed prior to the Commissions finding under Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 52.103(g) that all ITAAC have been met. This finding would authorize fuel load and operation of the plant.
The exemptions allow related changes to Tier 1 of the VEGP PS-DCD of the facility COL as specified in LAR-21-001. These exemptions are related to, and necessary for, the granting of the amendments which are being issued concurrently.
B. Whitley A copy of the related Safety Evaluation, which includes the staffs evaluation of the requested amendment and exemption, is also enclosed. A notice of issuance of the amendment and exemption documents included in this letter will be published in the Federal Register.
