Nuclear Regulatory Commission - Oyster Creek Registration of Spent Fuel Cask Use and Notification of all Spent Fuel Assemblies from the Spent Fuel Pool. Dated May 25, 2021 (ML21145A261)
This letter is to inform the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (USNRC) that, as of August 16.
2021, Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station (OCNGS) is formally removing the site from voluntary participation in the guidelines put forth in Reference 1. The additional actions necessary to determine notification validity did impact functions that were necessary in an operating plant scenario. However, with the plant in a permanently defueled state and all fuel stored on the Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) pad, time critical actions no longer exist at the site for such an event and, as such, participation in this voluntary program is no longer necessary. OCNGS previously documented that all fuel has been permanently removed from the Reactor Vessel in Reference 2 and relocation of all spent fuel to the ISFSI storage facility in Reference 3.
