This is a meeting in which attendees will have an opportunity to observe the NRC performing its regulatory function or discussing regulatory issues. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions of the NRC staff or make comments about the issues discussed following the business portion of the meeting; however, the NRC is not actively soliciting comments towards regulatory decisions at this meeting.

Purpose:

The purpose of this teleconference between Union Electric Company, dba Ameren Missouri (the licensee) and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff, is to discuss a license amendment request (LAR) to revise the Emergency Plan for Callaway Plant, Unit No. 1 (Callaway). The licensee is planning to submit a 10 CFR 50.54(q) LAR for the Callaway Emergency Plan that would (1) remove the 30-minute normal hours activation goal, leaving the 90-minute off-normal hours activation goal as the one station standard to cover all hours, and (2) extend the follow-up notification goal (to the State and counties) from 30 minutes to 60 minutes (and allow for even further increases when conditions are stable, with agreement from the State and counties).
