Dear Mr. Yox:
This refers to the investigation completed on January 8, 2021, by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Office of Investigations (OI) regarding activities at Southern Nuclear Operating Companys (SNC) Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (Vogtle) Units 3 and 4. The purpose of the investigation was to determine whether a Westinghouse (WEC) engineer for Vogtle Units 3 and 4 deliberately falsified the signature of another WEC engineer on a licensing impact determination (LID) form, related to an engineering and design coordination report (E&DCR), SV0-EDS-GEF-000010, Revision 0.
Based on the results of the OI investigation, the NRC concluded that the actions of the WEC engineer did not cause SNC to be in violation of regulatory requirements. In this case, WEC promptly identified the falsified signature and took appropriate action prior to receipt and use of the LID form by SNC. As such, no further action is warranted on this matter.
