SUMMARY

- LICENSEE PERFORMANCE REVIEW OF BWXT NUCLEAR OPERATIONS GROUP, INC., DOCKET NUMBER 70-27

Dear Mr. Bittner:

This letter refers to our meeting via teleconference and Microsoft Teams held on April 28, 2021, during which we discussed the Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) evaluation of your performance in the areas of safety operations, radiological controls, facility support, and safeguards. The meeting afforded you the opportunity to respond to NRCs conclusions about BWXTs performance over the period from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020. The NRC staff determined that BWXT NOG, Inc. conducted regulated activities safely, securely, and in a manner that protects public health and the environment. Based on our review of regulated activities, no areas needing improvement were identified within the four major performance areas.

In addition, the meeting also afforded the members of the public the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback to the NRC regarding our inspection program and the performance of BWXT Nuclear Operations Group, Inc. The list of meeting attendees is enclosed. The meeting slide presentations are available under accession numbers ML21116A021 (NRC) and ML21137A155 (BWXT) in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS).

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice and Procedure," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's document system (ADAMS).
