JOINT CNSC-U.S. NRC FIRST ROUND OF QUESTIONS TO TERRESTRIAL ENERGY INC. AND TERRESTIAL ENERGY USA, INC. - METHODOLOGY AND SELECTION OF POSTULATED INITATING EVENTS FOR THE IMSR DESIGN Under the work plan on cooperation in pre-application review activities pertinent to the Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR) design, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (U.S. NRC) agreed to develop and issue a common report that provides feedback on the methodology and selection of postulated initiating events (PIE) for the IMSR design. By letter dated April 27, 2021, the CNSC transmitted the joint CNSC and U.S. NRC first round of questions in support of the aforementioned report. The feedback is being derived from common information that was made available to both regulators through:

Terrestrial Energy USA, Inc. (TEUSA), PIE white paper (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Package Accession No. ML20318A178)
The document containing the joint questions is in Enclosure 1 and it is Proprietary. In the CNSC letter, TEUSA was requested to confirm that this document appropriately identified all proprietary information within 10 working days of the CNSC letter. to this memo contains Proprietary information. When separated from Enclosure 1, this document is DECONTROLLED.
