PUBLIC MEETING
SUMMARY
- 2020 ANNUAL ASSESSMENT MEETING REGARDING BRUNSWICK STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT, DOCKET NOS. 50-325 AND 50-324; AND SHEARON HARRIS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, DOCKET NO. 50-400, MEETING NUMBER 20210385 On April 21, 2021, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a live virtual meeting concerning the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant and Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant. The purpose of the meeting was to provide opportunities for the public to discuss the annual assessment for the period of January 1, 2020, through December 31, 2020.
In response to the COVID-19 coronavirus and updated Federal Government guidance on travel and social distancing, the meeting was held remotely through the Microsoft Teams application.
Additionally, a call-only telephone bridge line was available. The following documents related to the meeting are available in ADAMS: Meeting Notice (ML21102A259), Assessment Meeting Presentation (ML21090A11610).
The meeting was conducted from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM local time. Known attendees consisted of representatives from the NRC, Duke Energy, local media and general members of the public.
Due to the nature of the meeting, no official list of attendees is included. NRC staff were available for questions several times throughout the presentation and again at the conclusion of the presentation. There was minimal interaction with the public which was consistent with the typical annual assessment meetings conducted near the station. One member of the local media asked were there any issues with staffing due to the pandemic; and why the McGuire Nuclear Station was not included in this assessment meeting. The staff confirmed that there were no staffing impacts due to COVID.

The meeting was listed in the Public Meeting Feedback System under Meeting Code 20210385 and as of the date of this memo, there was one feedback response to the meeting.
