INDIAN POINT NUCLEAR GENERATING UNIT NO. 2 - CORRECTION TO AMENDMENT NO. 294 ISSUED APRIL 28, 2020, RE: PERMANENTLY DEFUELED TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS (EPID L-2019-LLA-0079)

Dear Sir or Madam:

By letter dated April 28, 2020 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML20081J402), the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Amendment No. 294 to Renewed Facility Operating License No. DPR-26 for Indian Point Nuclear Generating Unit No. 2 (Indian Point 2). The amendment consisted of changes to the Technical Specifications (TSs) in response to your application dated April 15, 2019, as supplemented by letter dated October 22, 2019 (ADAMS Accession Nos. ML19105B241 and ML19295G018, respectively).

The amendment revised the Indian Point 2 Renewed Facility Operating License and the associated TSs to permanently defueled TSs (PDTS), consistent with the permanent cessation of operations and permanent removal of fuel from the reactor vessel.

Subsequent to the issuance of the PDTS license amendment for Indian Point Nuclear Generating Unit No. 3 on April 22, 2021 (ADAMS Accession No. ML21074A000), the NRC staff identified that the issuance date on page 9 of the Indian Point 2 Renewed Facility License for Amendment No. 294 was incorrectly dated as April 28, 2020. The issuance date should have been retained as September 17, 2018, which corresponds to the date when page 9 of the license was last signed (ADAMS Accession No. ML18211A596).

The corrected page 9 to the Indian Point 2 Renewed Facility License is enclosed. This correction does not change any of the conclusions in the safety evaluation associated with the issuance of License Amendment No. 294.
