SUMMARY
OF AUGUST 12, 2020, PARTIALLY CLOSED MEETING WITH FRAMATOME AND THE NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION ON ACCIDENT TOLERANT FUEL AND ADVANCED FUEL MANAGEMENT On August 12, 2020, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a partially closed teleconference meeting via Skype with representatives from Framatome Inc.
(Framatome). The purpose of the meeting was for Framatome to provide the NRC staff with an update on its Enhanced Accident Tolerant Fuel (EATF) and Advanced Fuel Management (AFM). The meeting was noticed on July 22, 2020 and is available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML20204B067.
At the beginning of the meeting, the NRC staff provided an update on ATF and allowed an opportunity for public comment. There were no comments from the public during the initial open portion of the meeting. During the closed portion of the meeting, Framatome provided an update on the status of its near term and longer term EATF activities, AFM regarding increased enrichment and increased burnup, schedule updates, and next steps for future interactions.
