Dear Mr. DeLaBarre:
Enclosed is an application, dated October 13, 2020, received by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission from Sigma-Aldrich Corp. LLC, requesting Amendment No. 03 to its existing license XMAT418/02. The license presently authorizes the export of a cumulative total of 1,500 kilograms of deuterium in the form of deuterated compounds, deuterium oxide (heavy water).
and deuterium gas to India for distribution into medical, pharmaceutical, chemical, and industrial markets for non-nuclear end use.
The purpose of the amendment is to extend the date of expiration from February 28, 2021 to February 28, 2026.
There are no changes to the terms and conditions of the existing license being requested.
Therefore, our office is processing this as a minor amendment, and if no comments are received from the public within the 30-day comment period and it is determined that applicable legal requirements are satisfied, the NRC will issue the license.
