FRAMATOME, INC., U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION INSPECTION REPORT 70-1257/2020-401

Dear Dr. Land:

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a routine safeguards inspection, at the Framatome Inc. facility, in Richland, Washington, on August 24 - 27 and September 29 -

October 1, 2020. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) implemented alternative ways to complete the core inspection program for your facility when routine onsite inspections could not be performed as scheduled due to the public health emergency declared by the Secretary of Health and Human Services on January 31, 2020 (as renewed on April 21, 2020, and July 23, 2020), and the National Emergency declared by the President of the United States on March 12, 2020, concerning the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The enclosed report presents the results of this inspection, which was conducted through a combination of remote reviews and onsite observation. The results of the inspection were discussed with members of your staff during an exit meeting held at the conclusion of the onsite inspection on October 1, 2020.

This inspection examined activities conducted under your license as they relate to public health and safety, the common defense and security, and to confirm compliance with the Commissions rules, regulations, and the conditions of your license. Areas examined during this inspection included management structure, item control, measurement systems and control, physical inventory, resolution, assessment, and recordkeeping. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examination of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations of activities in progress. No violations of more than minor significance were identified during this inspection.

The enclosed inspection report contains Security-Related Information in accordance with 10 CFR 2.390(d)(1) and its disclosure to unauthorized individuals could present a security vulnerability.
