Integrated Source Management Portfolio Background Information NSTS Facts:

  • Provides an up-to-date accounting of all Category 1 and 2 sources possessed by NRC and Agreement State licensees
  • Total sources ~75,000 reported by ~1,400 licensees
  • Between 7,500 - 10,000 transactions per month
  • Majority of inventory by isotope is Co-60 (93%)
  • 97% of transactions involve 3% of the sources, Ir-192
  • 99% transactions are done electronically (electronic NRC Form 748, NSTS account, M&D/HelpDesk upload)
  • NSTS information shared with federal partners (DHS, FBI, and DOE)

WBL Facts:

  • Manages and tracks licensing/certification/inspection activities across 4 business lines associated with Parts 30, 40, 50, 70, 71, 72, 110, and 150 regulated activities
  • 3,200 active license and certificate records
  • 2,000 licensing/certification actions annually (new applications, amendments, renewals, and terminations)
  • 700 inspection actions annually
  • Linked to MDM (FAIMIS) for fee recovery
  • WBL stores NRC and Agreement State Category 1 and 2 licenses needed to support license verification
  • 10 Agreement States on-board with WBL (CO, MN, WI, NC, VT, TN, MA, MS, MD, and VA); 3 in progress (KS, WA, AR)
  • Includes a national registry and 2 tracking systems: National Registry of Sealed Sources and Devices; General License Tracking System; Package Registration Tracking System
