This letter acknowledges receipt of the letter dated June 19,1998, from P. Bemis, Washington Public Power Supply System (Supply System) to E. Merschoff, Regional Administrator, Region IV, and the discussions between V. Parrish of the Supply System, and E. Merschoff on June 22,1998. In the Supply System letter and subsequent discussion with the NRC, the Supply System committed to provide a briafing to the NRC staff prior to WNP-2 entering Mode 2.

The briefing would include discussion of the licensee's corrective actions related to the fire header line break event of June 17,1998. We will discuss with your staff arrangements for this open, public meeting in the NRC Region IV office in Arlington, Texas.
