Dear Mr. Merschoff:
Subject:
WNP-2, OPERATING LICENSE NPF-21 GO~ HttOR TO IIRRTRRT TOIIOHIRG HRR RIHDRR LINEBREAKANDFLOODINGEVICT The NRC was notified on June 17, 1998 that the Supply System had declared an Unusual Event due to a fire header line break that resulted in equipment room flooding (Ref:
Event ¹34408).
This letter documents the WNP-2 restart commitment subsequent to recovery from this event.
The Supply System is committed to formally brief NRC staff prior to WNP-2 entering Mode 2 (Startup).
The briefing time and location remain to be determined.
In that briefing, we will present actions taken to: 1) return WNP-2 fire protection systems to operational status based upon their capability to meet design basis requirements;
- 2) assess damage caused by water intrusion in other WNP-2 structures,
- systems, or components; and 3) identify the root cause and status of corrective actions.
Should you have any questions or desire additional information regarding this matter, please contact me or P. J. Inserra at (509) 377-4147.
Respectfully, ce ident, Nuclear ODerations MailDrop PE23 9806250267 980619 PDR ADQCK 05000397 S
