Dear Mr. McGaha:
' This is in reference to NRC letter dated April 24,1998, conceming suspension of participation in the requalification program of Mr. Norman T. Brumfield, NRC License No. SOP-43621, Docket No. 55-40492, due to his involvement with the institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO),'
which is not expected to exceed 24 months.
Initially, we indicated that because Mr. Brumfield's license is scheduled to expire during this period, he would need to be retumed to functional status in time to submit timely application for renewal or his license would expire. Since that time, it has been decided that timely application for renewal of Mr. Brumfield's license in accordance with 10 CFR 55.55 will be sufficient. As described therein, Mr. Brumfield's license will not expire until disposition of the application for renewal by the Commission, which we expect to be after your certification that Mr. Brumfield has successfully completed the Accelerated River Bend Station Licensed Operator Requalification Program requirements in accordance with 10 CFR 55.59(b).
