Due to an operator switching error, the diesel generator was called upon to assume an overloaded condition that caused overheating of the ,

generator and resultant fire. The switching error also initiated a l number of other cetions including a trip of the reactor, loss of trans-fer power and loss of ability to trip breakers for several electrical busses, an inadvertent safety injection, and luss of computer readout.

The consequences of the fire outside the generator casing was limited to smote damage. No radioactive releases or personnel injuries occurred.

The generator will require a complete rewind estimated to take a minimum of twelve (12) days. The reactor is currently in hot shut-down and will be placed in cold shutdown.
