E Enclosures 1 and 2 to this letter contain the American Society ofMechanical Code Section XI Inservice Testing (IST) and Inservice Pressure Testing (ISPT) Pro for the second ten-year interval for Nine Mile Point Unit 2 (NMP2). The second t began on April 5,1998.
The IST Program Plan (NMP2-IST-005, Revision 0) includes one general valve no pump reliefrequests. The general valve reliefrequest is in Section III of the Program The ISPT Program Plan (NMP2-PT-008, Revision 1) includes three general relief two specific relief requests, which are in Section 10 of the Program Plan. Both Progra have been prepared in accordance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Co 1989 edition, as required by 10 CFR 50.55a(f) and (g).
As a point of clarification, Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation (NMPC) intends to con using ASME Code Cases N-416-1 and N-498-1 for ISPT during the second ten-ye the first ten-year interval. By letters dated October 18,1994, and January 13,1995 authorized the use ofCode Cases N-416-1 and N-498-1 at NMP2 u the NRC Cases are published in a future revision ofRegulatory Guide (RG) 1.147. After the C are published, the NRC letters require NMPC to follow all of the Code Case provisions limitations issued in RG 1.147, if any. To date, neither Code Case has received fo endorsement even though both are listed as acceptable Code Cases in draft Revisio 1.147. Based on the aforementioned NRC authorizations, new requests for approv submitted for implementing the two Code Cases during the second ten-year interval.
