ABNORMALITIES IN THE CONTAINMENT DOME CONCRETE Indications of separation or voids in the concrete dome of the reactor building were noted during preparation for the containment structural integrity test, when an anchor bolt failed to hold.
Sonic sounding indicates a significant area of the dome is involved.
The affected area is believed to extend to at least five inches below the surface and into the rebar area.
The dome problem may impact on the July 31, 1976, fuel 1cading date.
Licensee plans have not been finalized for investigation of the concrete problem. Two inspectors were sent to the site on 4/19/76 to visually examine the problem and obtain preliminary information.

Media interest is expected, due to the probable impact on the completion date of construction. NRC is considering issuance of a press release.
