The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by OIE staff as of 11:00 a.m. on date of this notification.

2ne reactor was manually scrammed and the site emergency plan was placed into effect, because of the surprising increase of the gaseous release.
It should be noted that releases from the plant have been very low. Five workers were evacuated from the Turbine Building.
There were no personnel injuries or overexposure.
There were no radioactive releases above technical specification limits to the environment. The plant remained shutdown for an outage scheduled O
to start January 18.

licensee on January 16.
0 Region I was informed of this occurrence by telephone from the Plant Superintendent at 1620 January 16.
This report includes information obtained over the weekend and is accurate as of 0800 January 19.
