REANALYSIS OF SPENT FUEL STORAGE RACK SEISMIC DESIGN The licensee was informed on January 19 by the Architect Engineer, Stone &

Webster, Boston, Mass. that a major portion of the plant's spent fuel storage racks do not meet their seismic design criteria, when loaded with fuel. At present, there is no fuel in the storage racks.
However, the plant is shut-down for the incore instrument vibration modification which requires partial ustloading of the core.
Previous plans had scheduled fuel movement to start on January 25. These plans are being reviewed based on the information obtained from Stone and Wahsrar. Tha avrane of deley or the effect en the plerned

I&E is a'ctively" developing further infor-mation to determine the extent of the problem which could have generic implications.
Media interest is expected because of specific public interest in spent fuel O I storage at Nine Mile Point Unit 1, and of general interest in the fuel storage problem at nuclear power plants.
