REPORTED PERSONNEL OVEREXPOSURE The Commonwealth Edison Company reported that an employee received an 4 estimated whole body exposure of 8 Rem on March 18, 1976. The exposed person (Maintenance Engineer) was conducting an inspection under the reactor cavity in an attempt to find leaks occurring after the reactor cavity was flooded in preparation for refueling. The employea was carrying a monitoring instrument and after finding himself in a high field (beam) immediately left the area. IE inspectors are at the site evaluating the occurrence.

No press release is planned.

Region III, Chicago, received notification of this occurrence by telephone from a member of the Zion plant management at approximately 4:00 p.m (est) on g March 19, 1976.
