GASEOUS RADIOACTIVE RELEASE FROM REACTOR BUILDING VENT A gaseous radioactive (Xenon 133 and 135) release occurred for a one hour period commencing at 1605 on February 18, while processing spent resin. The i release was from a reactor water cleanup system resin regeneration holdup ,

tank which vents into the reactor building vent. There were no personnel overexposure.

The building vent monitor spiked to four (4) times the technical specifi-cation release rate limit of 6,600 microcuries per second for a period of 10 minutes. The release averaged over the day is within permissible limits. The total gaseous release was twenty (20) curies. No particulate or halogens were released.

At the time of the occurrence Unit 2 was operating at 97%, Unit 3 at 90%.

l Media interest is expected because of continuing coverage of problems at nuclear reactors. The State of Pennsylvania has been informed. A press release is not planned. '
