Subjects UNPLANNED RELEASE AND GROUND LEVEL CONTAMINATION i
Our Region 1 Office, was informed by telephone that Millstone 1, operating at transformer.
100% power, tripped off line because of a problem in their output 2 to trip. Unit 2 was operating Apparently, the power surge caused unit at 80% power. There are no 4
problems associated with unit 2.
Following the unit i scram, the main steam isolation valves closed and -.
the isolation condensor actuated in accordance with design. It appears that a tube in the isolation condenser failed and radioactive water entered the shell side of the condenser and exited through the isola-tion condensor vent.
