Subject:

PLANE CRASH NEAR FACILITY An unmarked twin engine Cessna airplane, out of fuel, crash landed approximately 300 yards south of the Turkey Point Plants at about 10:30 P.M. on February 8, 1976.

The pilot and 2 or 3 passengers walked around (outside) the security fence to the main security gatehouse.

The crew reportedly told the security force that their boat was stuck in the Mangrove Swamp and requested assistance.

Turkey Point shift personnel departing the facility gave the crew transportation to the Ramada Inn, Homestead, Florida, where all registered.

FP&L subsequently learned that they registered under I

assumed names.

The pilot is now reported to be in custody of the police, but the passengers have disappeared.

.i Both Turkey Point 3 and 4 were operating at rated power at the time.

here is no evidence that any attempt was made to breach the perimeter security fence.

Media i.terest is expected because of the close proximity of the crash landing to the nuclear facility. A press release is not planned by the
