PNS-77-16 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest significance. The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date.

Public Service Gas and Electric Company Subj ect:
BOMB THREAT The Woodstown-Salem, N. J. Radio Station WJIC received a telephone call from an unidentified male caller, who advised "That plant is going to blow baby." The threat was reported to the police department who advised the licensee at 9:10 a.m. on April 6, 1977. A discreet search of the reactor site was made by supervisory personnel with negative results.
Though the caller made no specific mention of the Salem si,te, it was assumed the call concerned Salem since it is the.only " plant"'in that m=,:
area.
Media interest is expected because of close attention given to problems at nuclear facilities. The States of Delaware and New Jersey have been informed. A press release is not planned. The FBI has been notified.
NRC, Region I, (Philadelphia) received notification of this occurrence by telephone from the licensee at 11:40 a.m. on April 6, 1977.
