SUBJECT:

SEISMIC BRACING NOT INSTALLED IN HEAT TRACING CABINETS The licensee reported _ that on February 15, a cons'truction supervisor observed that the interior bracing on the Unit No. 2 heat tracing controller cabinets for boron systems was different from those installed on Unit ,

No. 1. The licensee reported that a review of the eight chbinets installed

, in Unit No.1 revealed that a normally installed full length brace and g

' shipping brace, was removed and discarded. The additional seismic brace l i

.was shipped with the cabinets but was never installed, presumably for p the same reason.

g There has been no' media interest but interest is expected due to the O continuing interest in VEPC0 and the North Anna licensing process. The Commonwealth of Virginia has been notified. A news release is not Q planned by the licensee nor NRC.

Region-II (Atlanta) received notification of this occurrence by telephone from the. Operations Superintendent at 4:32 p.m. on February 16. This information is current as of 2:30 p.m. on February 17.
