The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff on this date.

UNISOLATABLE LEAK IN THE PRIMARY COOLANT SYSTEM CLEANUP LINE The licensee reported that during an inspection of the drywell on March 25, 1978, a pipe crack was-detected in the primary coolant system four-inch cleanup line. The crack, approximately one. inch in length, is through the pipe wall and is located in a weld adjacent to the inboard isolation valve. It is not possible to isolate this area for repair by valving.

The reactor is currently shutdown for refueling. It is not kr.own at EM this time whether startup will be delayed. The licensee is currently s evaluating methods for repair. Region III will follow.this matter l
