.NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-395/98-03
Dear Mr. Taylor:
An NRC inspection was conducted March 30 - April 17,1998. at your.V.. C.
Summer reactor facility.
This was a Safety System Engineering Inspection
(SSEI). -The primary objective of this SSEI was to assess the adequacy of
calculations, analysis, and'other engineering documents that were used to
.
support the emergency feedwater (EFW) system performance during normal and
accident:or abnormal conditions.
The overall performance capability of the EFW system was assessed as good with
no operability concerns identified with this system.
Based on the results of

this inspection, one violation was identified.
This violation is of concern

because the examples were indicative of your staff failing to pay attention to

' details in performance of safety evaluations and review of performance test
results,
iheviolation-iscitedintheenclosedNoticeofViolationandthe
. circumstances surrounding the violation'are described in detail in the
enclosed report.

~and should follow.the instructions specified in the enclosed Notice when
