This letter transmits the. Balance of Plant safety inspection by Messrs. E. Kelly,
E. Conner, and L. Scholl from November 7 - December 18, 1988 at the Limerick Gene-
rating Station, Unit 1, Limerick, Pennsylvania'.
The inspection, based on an NRC.
Risk-Based Inspection Guide, consisted of document reviews, interviews, and obser-
vation'of activities.
The results have been discussed the Mr.- Martin McCormick,
Jr. of- your = staf f.
No. violations of NRC requirements were identified and no response is required.
Your efforts to more fully use the results of your PRA, particularly in operational
management decisions regarding safety system availability and preventive mainten-
ance, are noted to be .important steps towards risk reduction and real safety im-

provements.
