EVALUATION OF THE PUMP AND VALVE INSERVICE TESTING PROGRAM INTERIM PUMP RELIEF REQUEST FOR V.C. SUMMER NUCLEAR STATION, UNIT 1 (TAC NO MA0864)
Dear Mr. Taylor:
South Carolina Electric and Gas Company's February 11,1998, letter submitted a pump interim relief request for charging pump *C." We authorize your proposed alternative to the Code acceptance criteria requirements of OMa-1988, Part 6, Section 6.1, for the "C" charging pump pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a(a)(3)(ii) until the completion of the 11th refueling outago. We base this on the determination that compliance with the specified requirements results in a l
bordship without a compensating increase in the level of quality and safety. The enclosed Safety Evaluation contains our evaluation of your interim relief request.
